![]() I love to cook. I love reading cook books and have dog-eared countless recipes in magazines. But I can’t say I’ve ever followed a recipe to the letter and yet I always manage to whip up a successful meal even if I’m missing some of the ingredients. The best cooks are often the ones know how to open up the fridge and pantry and creatively put together a dish based on using what they have at the ready. Cooking a great meal is an art and recipes are the science of cooking. I think of marketing the same way. ![]() I love marketing. I have read just as many marketing books as I have cook books and I’ve dog-eared countless articles on the “recipe to marketing success”. But I apply the same philosophy to marketing as I do for cooking; I take stock of the ingredients I have available, assess their strengths and opportunities and put together my own creative marketing recipe to suit the individual tastes and needs of my own business or my clients. My online marketing guru Lorrie Thomas Ross says “Flavour doesn’t come from books – it comes from hands-on creative execution”. In a world gone mad for cooking shows, maybe I should change my name from Sharpe Design Solutions to Creative Marketing Cooking lol?!
